Elaine E. (LaMont) Howes passed away on Sunday afternoon February 19, 2023, at her "Happy Place", her winter home in Ellenton, Florida at the age of 71.

She was born on September 13, 1951, in Manistee, MI, the daughter of the late Roscoe & Frances (Rogers) LaMont. She graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1969 and Mercy School of Nursing in Cadillac in 1970. On September 19, 1970, she married Vernon "Terry" Howes at the Pleasanton Methodist Church. She continued her education in nursing at Montcalm Community College and became a Registered Nurse in 1988. During her 37-year nursing career she was employed by several hospitals, Michigan Home Health, and finished her career as a home health nurse for Spectrum Health in 2010.

As well as being a dedicated nurse, she was an active member of the Bear Lake Methodist Church and when in Florida she volunteered at the Methodist Thrift Store in Parrish. She was the happiest when she was "Giving and Helping others." Elaine also enjoyed time in her flower gardens, entertaining, sewing, cooking, and her feline and canine companions.

Elaine will be sadly missed by her husband Terry Howes, her sons; Terry (TJ) Howes, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, & Anthony (Tony) Howes, her twin brother; Harvey LaMont, and her sisters; Linda Holm and Joanne Crawford.

In addition to her parents Elaine was met in heaven by her beloved son Michael John Howes as well as other loved ones who passed.

Memorial Services for Elaine will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Bear Lake United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim MacQuarrie officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will be in the Marilla Cemetery.
