Douglas Allen Truitt, age 77 of Bear Lake, Michigan died Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.

He was born on April 22, 1948 in Geneva, Illinois the son of the late Richard & Catherine (Harbelis) Truitt. He was a graduate of West Chicago High School and Northern Illinois University. He married Susan M. Probeck on June 6, 1969 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Western Springs, Illinois.

Doug was first and foremost a family man who worked hard to provide for his family. He was the owner of Truitt & Sons Construction, Inc. He was a devoted Christian, who lived to honor God in all he did.

Survivors include his wife; Susan M. Truitt of Bear Lake, MI, six children; Nat (Christy) Truitt of Glen Ellyn, IL, Alex (Kristin) Truitt of Bozeman, MT., Joseph (Liz) Truit of Plymouth, IN, John (Sarah) Truitt of Anderson, IN, Lena (Adam) Meade of Sante Fe, TN, & Anna (Seth) Girard of Hohenwald, TN, 19 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters

A memorial will be held this summer at Bear Lake, Michigan.
