Obituary

Dorothy May (Gannon) Wendt, age 98 of Bear Lake, Michigan, entered the gates of heaven on September 24, 2024. She was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus.

She was born on July 22, 1926, to John and Georgia Gannon in Kaleva, Michigan. Dorothy was the youngest of twelve children, Harry, Ione, Irene, Vera, Guy, Ernest, Ray, Clyde, Donald, Iva and Ruth (Gladys) all preceded her in death.

Dorothy grew up on a large farm where she learned the value of hard work in picking and packing apples and cherries. Later in life she worked with her sister Gladys cleaning houses and cottages. She loved the work she did.

A favorite memory of her childhood was the great bank robbery in Kaleva, Michigan. She remembered standing on the corner and the police looking for the robbers. She ran home yelling that the banker had been shot. Missing her siblings she would run away to the school to be with them.

On November 24,1945 she married Fredrick Wendt (1999). They were blessed with a daughter Georgia Ann (2021), son-in-law Gene Boone, and a son, Larry, who survives her. Larry took care of her in later years. She missed her daughter, Georgia, every day.

An added blessing is a stepdaughter Mary and her husband Earl Barks along with their children and families. Mary and Bing were not only family, but they were also dear friends.

Her granddaughter, Jennifer Tokie (Matthew, Daniel, and Kaitlynn (Edward)) and grandson Aaron (Shannon) Berg (Evan, Noah, Kylee, Jaxson) were the loves of her life. They were blessed to have her as their grandmother and great-grandmother for so many years. They will miss her always.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Grandnieces Pauline Chick and Diane Przybyla shared a special place in her heart for the love, friendship, and care they gave her in her later years.
