Obituary

Dr. Donald N. Schwing, MD, beloved general surgeon of both Manistee and Mason County for over 60 years went to be with our Lord after a short illness on November 23, 2020, at his home.
He was born on January 6, 1922, in St. Bernard, Ohio and preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Dr. Schwing had a most happy, adventurous life starting at age 19 and continuing until his death at 98. He traveled the world extensively, always taking along medical supplies to render help whenever and wherever needed. He was a MASH surgeon during the Korean War and has written many stories about this and other numerous life experiences.
Boat building and his love for boats and water were his great passions along with his many other hobbies. Life for Dr. Schwing was never boring.
He was the recipient of many awards during his lifetime.
Dr. Schwing is greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his eight children and their families, his devoted wife Suzanne and her three children and their families.
A celebration of his remarkable life will be held on July 9, 2022, with a Memorial Service and Military Honors at 11:00 AM at the Congregational Church, 4th and Oak Street, Manistee, MI, followed with a party in his honor at his home in Onekama. His family welcomes you to join in this celebration.
