Donald Lee Cameron, Jr., age 88 of Free Soil, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on December 21, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of the late Donald & Virginia (Sorensen) Cameron. He was a 1955 graduate of Mason County Central High School and a Veteran, serving in the United States Army. On February 13, 1960, he married Jean Ann Rogers at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Manistee.
Don was employed as a truck driver by PCA for forty years, retiring in 1998, as well as working at Cameron Brothers Well Drilling where he was part owner for several years.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee and the United Steelworkers Union. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting pool, & mushroom hunting. He also played softball for many years.
Survivors include his wife; Jean Ann Cameron, three children; David (Lynn) Cameron, Daniel (Karen) Cameron, & Diane (Todd) Schubert, five grandchildren, Danielle (Patrick) O'Rourke-Stedman, Derek (Jodie) Cameron, Broc (Tori) Cameron, Jordan Cameron, & Kelly (Alex) Meyers, ten great grandchildren, his brother; Gary (Dorothy) Cameron, his sister; Jill Cameron Schulz, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law; Sherry Cameron, and his in-laws; Robert & Mable Rogers.
Memorial Services for Don will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Scott Fredericks officiating. Military Honors will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery later in the afternoon following a luncheon that will immediately follow services.
