Darlene Joy Sayer, age 77, of Wellston, passed away on Saturday September 28, 2024.

Born August 27, 1947, in Cadillac, Michigan, Darlene was the daughter of the late Floyd H. and Hilda N. (Powell) Sayer. She graduated from Brethren High School, Class of 1965 and attended West Shore Community College where she earned her associate degree in 1986.

She was a mother, a Head Start teacher in Manistee, and a waitress over the years at Kozy Kitchen in Wellston, Chico's Taco House in Cadillac, and was the night manager of Manistee House of Flavors.

Her faith in God was very important to her, she tried to shine His light on all she met.

Darlene loved to watch the birds at her feeders, complete crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, and to crochet and sew. She had a curious mind and loved to read and learn.

She is survived by her children D'Anne Klug of Grand Rapids, Rick (Deanna) Sayer of Beulah, Lisa Lowery of Mount Pleasant, Chuck (Christie) Horn of Deltona, FL, and Joshua Griffus of Marquette, fourteen precious grandchildren, brother T. Bruce Sayer of Palmetto, FL, sister-in-law Gretchen L. Sayer of Reed City, three nieces and a nephew, and many beloved cousins.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her infant grandson Chase Robert Klug, her nephew Scott M. Sayer, and her brother Michael G. Sayer.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends and will be announced at a later date.
