Cheryl “Nonni” Babcock Childs Fox Houghten

Cheryl “Nonni” Dawana Fox-Houghten, 80, of Bear Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, July 6, 2026. Born April 27, 1946, the daughter of Ed and Emma (Persing) Babcock.

Cheryl graduated from Bear Lake School in 1964 and also attended West Shore College. She lived her life an entrepreneur and matron.

Her passions included nature, education, literature, art, and coffee.

She is survived by: her sisters, Valerie, Leah and Sandra; her brothers, Tim and Steven (Blues); her children, Jayna and Elizabeth; her grandsons, Derick and Michael; her great-grandchildren, Calista and Kenai; Along with countless foster and adopted children.

She is preceded in death by: her husband’s, Jim, Fred, and James; sister by choice, Linnea; her brothers by choice, Rick, Vic, and Zimmy; and her cousins, Jewel and Waun.

In accordance with her wishes, she has been cremated, and a celebration of life will take place at the end of august at the Gentleman MC Clubhouse in Manistee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Derick Fox or Jayna Childs, to help cover expenses. Inquiries may also be directed to them.
