Obituary

Carol "Tootie" Rowell (Moses), age 83, of Manistee, MI, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at Green Acres of Manistee. Born on August 17, 1942, in Grand Haven, MI, she was the cherished daughter of the late Donald H. Moses and Louise F. Moses (Lemons). A graduate of Grand Haven High School, Carol co-owned the Grand River Gallery in Grand Haven and later served as a dedicated nurse's aide for assisted living care.

Carol was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Manistee. She found joy in antiques, gardening, Bible study, cryptograms, reading, and crafting, constantly creating new treasures. Her warm and welcoming nature led her to connect with everyone she met. A devoted animal lover, she cherished all creatures except spiders.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Rowell of Los Angeles, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Andy Rowell and Rosie Tsanova; grandchildren, Nathan and Nola Rowell of La Jolla, CA; sister, Sue (Dave) Norton of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Ron (Terri) Sluis of Manistee, MI; sister-in-law, Saipin (Butch) Moses of Spring Lake, MI; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved siblings, Karen "Terri" Sluis (Moses), Donna Stillson (Moses), and Donald "Butch" Moses, as well as her dear aunt and uncle, Caroline "Kernie" and Roy McCleary.

Cremation has taken place, with interment to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Women's Alzheimer's Movement.
