Benjamin Lee Koon, age 30 of Manistee, died June 26, 2023, at his home.

He was born on July 17, 1992, in Ludington, Michigan, the son of Donald P. Koon and Linda (Libby) Kava. He attended Manistee Public & Casman Schools and was a 2010 graduate. He had been employed as a table games dealer at the Little River Casino.

Benny loved playing video games on his Xbox with his sisters, niece's and nephew's, and friends. He appreciated spending time with family the most. From cookouts to kayaking, to sitting and simply talking on the porch. On any nice day you could find Ben in his hammock by the beach or "bumping" his loud music in his car all over town. In his teen years, he grew up at the skatepark/teen center. He volunteered to tie up ice-skates for those enjoying the ice-rink in the winter months, or doing tricks on the skate ramps and helping others learn how to do the same. He loved going to concerts, festivals, and any kind of activity that involved an adventure.

He is survived by his parents Linda & Darren Kava and Donald P. & Terry Koon; his sisters Natalie Koon (Chris Hansen) and Alexa (Tyler) Fink; grandparents Linda & Robert LaPlant; stepmother Brenda Johnston; stepsister Ashley Hockey & stepbrother's, Hunter (Julie) Hockey, Christopher Kava; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents LeRoy G. & Suanne Libby; paternal grandfather Donald L. Koon; and his uncle Greg Libby. His very close friends he considered brother's, Brian Cook, and Mat Kolberg.

The family will receive friends at the Oak Grove funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee on Saturday July 8, 2023, beginning at 2:00 PM. A time of sharing will follow at 3:00 PM.
