Barbara Alice Chick, age 87 of Manistee, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon August 25, 2023, at Maple Ridge Manor in Manistee surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 2, 1936, in Durand, MI, the daughter of the late Chester & Vivaline (Corwin) Kucharski. She attended Durand Schools. On April 24, 1954, she married Jerome B. Chick at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2022.

Her working career included employment at the Glen of Michigan, the Manistee County Farm & Hospital, and the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She had been a member of the Saint Mary's of Mount Carmel Shrine Altar Society and in earlier years the Manistee Garden Club.

Barb enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, cooking, knitting, crocheting, and camping with family.

Survivors include three sons; Joseph (Rosemary) Chick, Brian (Mary) Chick of Manistee, and Ronald (Laurie) Chick of Hudsonville, MI, one daughter; Christine (Thomas) Thieman of Cadillac, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one soon to be great-great granddaughter; Blanche, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; Karen, an infant granddaughter; Angela Chick, an infant great grandson; Kaiden Thomas Thieman, brother & sister-in-law; Marvin & Marguerite Chick, seven brothers; Robert, Bernard, Irving, Vincent, Charles, Stanley, & Chester, and six sisters; Cecelia, Edna, Ida Mae, Margaret, Julia, & Marian.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Father Mitchel Roman Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass.

Memorials in Barb's name may be directed to Homeward Bound or Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
