Arlene Naomi (Nelson) Berklund passed away at home on March 3, 2022. Arlene was born on January 15, 1936, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Vencil and Naomi Nelson.
Arlene grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan. She attended St. Alphonsus Catholic schools. She married Keven Berklund in 1957. They established a home in Comstock Park, Michigan where they raised five children. They loved boating and kept a boat at Grand Haven, Michigan. The family spent weekends and vacations on the boat.
Keven and Arlene inherited a barn on Lake Michigan in Onekama, Michigan in 1969. They spent years remodeling the barn into a home. They moved there permanently in 1981. They loved living on the lake. It was where they held many, many family gatherings.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Keven, her parents and her brothers Richard and Gerald (Jerry). She is survived by her children Keven Berklund (Barb Brooks), Laura (James) Dagwell, Terry Berklund (Veronica Smith), Susan Berklund and Heidi Berklund. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Hospice Michigan. They made this final transition so much easier.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date on Lake Michigan where to scatter the ashes of Keven and Arlene.
