Obituary

Allan "Al" Peter Syverson, passed away on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, in the arms of his wife.

Al was born September 27th, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in a little town called Brandon. Al was raised on a dairy farm with his father and mother, Donald and Adeline Syverson, and his two siblings Susan and Bradley.

Al led a very active life and was proud to serve his country. After high school, he started machinist school, but quickly realized that was not for him. Al decided to join the United States Air Force in 1968. Of the 22 years of service, 11 of those were spent overseas, including three years in Southeast Asia. Al was decorated in honors with medals going from Vietnam Service Ribbon to the Meritorious Service Medal. Al's Vietnam Campaign Ribbon carries the Silver Star, reflecting six major offences. After three trips around the world and 22 years in the service, he retired. After retirement from the Air Force, Al trained to become a marine tech, which he was very good at and held that position for 25 years until his service injuries no longer allowed.

Al was married two times with four children before falling in love with Barbara and marrying her and having a child together.

Hunting and fishing were Al's life; you could always catch him in the woods or on the lake with Barbara. Barbara was always on Al's side and stuck with him through sickness and in health. Al loved his wife and his family very much and noted wishing he would have said it more.

Al is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons Steven, Jessie, Eric and Donny (Amanda); his daughter-in-law Wendy; sister Susan (Duane); brother Bradley (Sherrie); nieces and nephews Aaron, Kelly, Kimberly, Peter, Andy, and Lauren; and his grandchildren, Zander, Wynnslet, Kate, Lexas, Madie, and Thai.

Al was preceded in death by his mother and father, Donald and Adeline, his brother-in-law Gordon, and his son Jerry.
