Obituary for Wayne Allen Skory

Wayne Allen Skory passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 31, 2018 and is now home with his heavenly father. He was 69.
He was born on June 3, 1949 in Manistee the son of the late Carl & Esther (Loetz) Skory. He was a1967 graduate of Manistee High School and had served in the Michigan National Guard. On September 30, 1969 he married Nancy Ann Rhodea at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Manistee.
He had been employed at Morton Salt Company in Manistee for 41 years, retiring in 2014. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee where he was a former trustee.
Wayne loved being involved in his grandchildren’s lives and was a constant encouragement to them and their faith. In his retirement he enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing with many close friends.
He is survived by his wife; Nancy Skory, son; Jeffrey (Melanie) Skory of Boiling Springs, SC, daughter; Janel (Casey) Barber of Evart, MI, 5 grandchildren; Luke, Jake, & Alyssa Skory and Mara & Caleb Barber, several brothers & sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, and his Aunt; Elaine Skory.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws; Erwin & Wilma Rhodea and a special cousin Darwin Gutowski.
Funeral Services for Wayne will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinioty Lutheran Church in Manistee with Pastor Dennis Rahn officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Friday from 6-8 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
