Jason Lawrence Uithol, 46, of Interlochen, passed away on October 11, 2017.
Jason was born on February 22, 1971 in Pontiac, the son of Gilbert Uithol III and Jean Chapman. Jason graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1989 and was wed to Christina Stefaniak on July 28, 1990. Jason spent several years working in tool and die, but found he wasn’t able to spend enough time with his family, so he went into the plumbing industry. He became quite skilled and decided to go out on his own, starting Affordable Plumbing in Traverse City. Jason was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Green Lake Township for many years.
Jason had a great sense of humor and always wanted to be around people. He enjoyed bonfires with family and friends, playing poker and euchre, and relaxing on the couch, watching TV while spending time with his pets. Jason’s love for speed drove him to his love of quads and snowmobiling, and driving around in his Corvette.
Making family memoires was important to Jason. His desire to spend time with his family was very apparent to those around him. He was a loving and protective father and husband. He was intentional as a father, making sure that his daughters grew up to become strong, independent, and responsible young women. He made sure that they felt comfortable talking to him about anything and always had time to have open conversations. Jason was always there any time someone was in need of help. Even in his death, his generous spirit lives on as a Gift of Life donor.
Jason is survived by his wife, Christina Uithol; daughters, Megan (fiancé Shane Rosa) Uithol and Stefanie (fiancé Kendrick Meyer) Uithol; father, Gilbert (Jennifer) Uithol; mother, Jean (Jerry) Chapman; brothers, Scott (Caren) Uithol and Gil Uithol; step-siblings, Tom (Mary) Chapman, Michelle (Scott) Chapman Anderson, Kevin Chapman, Mary Jo (Peter) Friia, Shelly (Jose) Rivera, Donielle Rikli, Brad (Densie) Sepell, Stephanie (Jim) Kehrer; and granddaughter, Addison Rosa.
Preceding Jason in death were his sister, Rebecca Jeanne Uithol; step-mother, Nancy Uithol; and grandmother, Helen Uithol.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm, with visitation starting at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
